In May, our team had the absolute joy of delivering a full day of Tangled Feet’s Mindfulness Project at Ramsey Manor Lower School as part of their whole-school Wellbeing Day. This special event saw every single child in the school participate in a session focused on emotional regulation, mindfulness, and wellbeing. We welcomed every class in the school into the hall to spend time with us focussing on pupil’s wellbeing and it was such an uplifting, energetic, and heartwarming day!
Our Mindfulness Project, which we run in schools across Luton and Central Bedfordshire, blends yoga, breathwork, mindfulness techniques, drama-based activities and storytelling into interactive sessions that equip children with practical tools to manage their emotions. Whether they’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply need a moment to pause, our approach helps children build awareness of their own wellbeing, giving them tools to practice to support them to feel calm, grounded and resilient.
Throughout the day, classes came into the main hall accompanied by their teachers, teaching assistants and even members of the senior leadership team who popped in to see the sessions in action. From Reception to Year 6, every child engaged with energy and curiosity, throwing themselves into games, movement, breathing exercises and reflection.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing how each child reflected on their experience. After their session, they were invited to share their favourite part of the Mindfulness Project through drawing and writing. Their responses were full of colour, creativity and honesty. Some children loved the calming breathwork, others enjoyed the yoga and movement, and many told us they loved the storytelling and games. It was a joy to see the impact of these small moments of mindfulness on their young minds. “I loved the games and learning yoga poses” “the breathing made me feel calm and still”
At the end of the school day, we wrapped up our visit with a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session for the school’s teaching staff. This session gave teachers and support staff a chance to experience the Mindfulness Project for themselves, not just to bring ideas back into their classrooms, but to take a moment for their own wellbeing. We guided them through a gentle blend of yoga, breathwork, relaxation techniques, and a deeply restorative Yoga Nidra session to help them unwind after an action-packed day.
Feedback from both staff and children was incredibly positive, and we were thrilled to hear senior leaders call the day a
“brilliant success” that gave children “tools for life.”
We are proud to continue sharing The Mindfulness Project with schools across our region, creating spaces where children and staff can pause, breathe, move, and reconnect with themselves and each other.
